Founder of Blain Avocats, Marie-José Blain is a pioneer of refugee immigration law in Quebec. With over 35 years' experience, she has assisted thousands of people in their immigration process, including refugees, skilled workers and international students. Me Blain began her law studies at the University of Ottawa in 1980. After completing her studies at the Quebec Bar, she worked for a law firm specializing in labour and immigration law. Throughout her career, Me Blain has participated in various legal clinics and training activities in immigration law. Her presence in many of Montreal's cultural communities has enabled her to make a name for herself as a highly competent and hard-working lawyer. Rigor and respect for fundamental rights guide Me Blain in her relations with her clients. Recognized for her unwavering commitment to social justice, Me Blain defends the rights of immigrants with compassion and determination.
Me Girard began his university studies at the Université du Québec à Montréal, where he concentrated on political science with an international orientation. Since then, he has worked on an occasional basis with Me Blain in various immigration law cases. During his university studies, Mr. Girard worked as a sales representative in a highly competitive field. He developed skills in various negotiation techniques and customer satisfaction. On the legal front, he joined Blain avocats in 2020 after completing his formation at the École du Barreau. Mr. Girard also had the opportunity to work for a Montreal-area law firm in various fields, notably employment law and civil and commercial litigation. This work experience enabled him to make representations before the courts and develop legal drafting techniques. In his practice, Me Girard has been involved in pleading before both administrative and judicial tribunals. He has appeared before the Federal Court on judicial review and has practiced in a variety of legal fields. Given his diverse legal background, Me Girard is a versatile lawyer who listens to his clients' needs and proposes solutions tailored to them.
