For the majority of permanent residents in Canada, obtaining citizenship is the culmination of a long process. Aside from the requirements for residency, language knowledge and good conduct, permanent residents applying for citizenship will generally have to demonstrate that they have filed income tax returns in Canada and that they have a good knowledge of our beautiful country.
